Summit Hill Fire company honors Italian Club

Diligence Fire Company No. 1 in Summit Hill recently recognized an organization and an individual for their dedication to the company.

Members of the Summit Hill Fire Company recently presented officers of St. Gabriel's Italian Club in Summit Hill with the 2010 Friend of the Fireman Award for everything that they have done for the company throughout the year.Shawn Hoben, fire chief, said St. Gabriel's sponsored numerous events that the fire company organized; participated in the firetruck and new station dedication by making food; held a spaghetti dinner and donated the proceeds to the fire company; and much more."They've been very generous to us," he said.The fire company also presented Agnes Neal with a Volunteer of the Year award for her donation of a handmade quilt, which was then raffled off as a fundraiser.The members of the fire company said that these acts of kindness to help keep the company operating are very much appreciated.
