Rush Township recently approved and purchased a new holding cell for its police station.
The installation work of the new steel holding cell was done by volunteers from the Odd Fellows Harmony Lodge 86 out of Tamaqua. The police station, which is connected to the township's building, didn't have a holding cell prior and only had a bench with cuffs attached to it.The holding cell was recommended by the township insurance carrier to be in compliance with insurance requirements. The holding cell will also allow police officers to spend more time on other in-station matters instead of wasting it on strict supervision of individuals who are in their custody.
