Eight area residents among 19 to enter guilty pleas

Eight area residents were among 19 who entered guilty pleas in Schuylkill County court and were sentenced by Judge Charles M. Miller.

Christine Cathleen Ritter, 24, of 12 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, was sentenced on a number of criminal charges.On a charge of corruption of minors placed on probation 12 months and on a charge of criminal solicitation to commit theft from a motor vehicle was given a concurrent 11 months probation sentence. Ritter was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Houser.On a charge of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness brought by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig, was given credit for serving 96 days in the county prison and was released on probation for 12 months to run consecutive to the corruption charge. On the drunk charge was fined $25.Brett Michael Hill, 33, of 753 Arlington St., Tamaqua, on a charge of simple assault filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) and make restitution of $5,599.09 to Damian Boyle. On a charge of criminal mischief was fined $100.Bonnie T. Shigo, 25, of 419 E. Grant St., McAdoo, was sentenced on two retail theft charges from Wal-Mart Store in Hometown. She received a total of 18 months on probation and ordered to pay $100 to CJEA, and make restitution of $1,516.75 to the store. She was cited by Rush Township police. She blamed her actions on being addicted to drugs.Brian Keith Woods, 45, of 101 Rowe St., Tamaqua, on a charge of open lewdness was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and perform 20 hours of community service. On a charge of disorderly conduct serve a concurrent 12 months on probation and on a charge of public drunkenness was fined $25 and costs. Woods was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Karl Harig.Robert Earl Marx Jr., 41, of 141 Coal St., Cumbola, Blythe Township, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison and when released to be placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) to serve four years and 11 months under strict probation, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend alcohol highway safe driving school, perform 10 hours of community service and his driver's license is suspended 18 months. Painter III, 54, of 52 Bernhard Road, Barnesville, on a charge of simple assault on Rush Township police, was placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. Kane II, Rhododendron Circle, Jim Thorpe, on a charge of retail theft from Wal-Mart Store, Hometown, was placed on probation 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. Kane was cited by Rush Cpl. Duane Frederick.Alexis Goldberg, 20, Coaldale/Lansford, was sentenced on two counts of theft by unlawful taking. On the first count for taking jewelry and personal property from the home of Denise Tobin, 258 W. Howard Ave., Coaldale, she was given credit for serving 23 days in the county prison and placed on probation of 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. On a charge of defiant trespass was given a 12 months concurrent probation sentence. She was cited by Patrolman Scott Cramer.On the second theft charge of merchandise from Giant Supermarket in Pottsville she was given credit for serving 67 days in the county prison and released on probation of 11 months to begin at the expiration of her first probation sentence, pay $50 to CJEA and make restitution of $11.38 to the store. She was cited by Patrolman Kirk Becker.Andrew S. Carlton, 23, Pottsville, DUI, serve 30 days in the county prison and when released placed in the IPP for four years and 11 months, pay a fine of $1,500, pay $300 SAE fund, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, perform 10 hours community service and driver's license suspended 18 months. Kotzmoyer.Joseph Jarrad Guzick, 21, Port Carbon, simple assault, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $7,857.02 to James McGuinnes, Adams Street, Pottsville.
