The Pa. Department of Environment Resources has announced it is prohibiting new connections to the municipal sewerage system in Lehighton and Weissport with one exception. The exception is that a proposed Wal-Mart stroe in the Ashtown section of Mahoning Township could be connected. The reason is that the connection would allow for the hook-up of residents of Ashtown who have malfunctioning on-lot systems, thus eliminating a health hazard.
