Driver cited for DUI after crash

Tamaqua police have charged the driver involved in a multivehicle crash on April 5 after receiving the results of blood tests taken after the incident.

Daryl Lee Jones, 41, of 213 High St., Coaldale, was operating a 1998 Dodge Durango at 11:45 p.m. when he struck several vehicles parked in the unit block of North Greenwood Street.At the time of the accident Jones exhibited numerous signs of possible intoxication, from the odor of alcohol on his breath to his inability to stand and walk unaided. Jones told officers he had been at Freddy's Pub and drank three "Big Daddy" shots.Results of the blood tests indicate Jones had a blood-alcohol content of .253 percent, more than three times the legal limit of .08.He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
