A Mifflin County driver was killed in a crash early today in Schuylkill County. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred about 4 a.m. along Route 901 in front of the 901 Pub in Foster Township.

Troopers said John P. Sharp, 87, of Belleville, was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger pickup eastbound when, for unknown reasons, he traveled into the westbound lane and struck a 1997 Wabash trailer portion of a 2003 Freightliner tractor operated by George Lee Siregar, 36, of Ontario, Canada.After impact the Ranger spun 90 degrees counter-clockwise before coming to rest. Sharp was pronounced dead at the scene by county deputy coroner David Truskowsky. Troopers said Sharp was wearing a seat belt and both air bags were deployed.Siregar was not injured.
