A Kresgeville woman was charged with careless driving following a single-vehicle crash recently.

State police at Lehighton said Tara Jackson, 18, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, traveling northbound on Route 209, north of Forrest Inn Road, Towamensing Township, Carbon County, at 3:14 p.m. May 21.She was traveling at approximately 45 mph when she became distracted. When she looked at the road ahead she observed a stopped vehicle and lost control when she applied the brakes.The vehicle crossed the yellow line, left the roadway and struck a tree located in the front yard of 6725 Interchange Road.The vehicle was damaged on the front driver side where it struck the tree.Jackson was transported to Palmerton Hospital for treatment of a head injury. She was wearing a seat belt, but the vehicle's airbags did not deploy.She was cited for careless driving.
