One person injured in Carbon crash

One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 5:09 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Old Stage Road and Guest Circle in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

State police at Fern Ridge said Mary R. Smyth, 18, of Cherry Hill, NewJersey, was stopped on Guest Circle driving a 1999 Chrysler Concorde while Todd J. Lawrence, 18,of Albrightsville, was northbound on Old Stage Road driving a 2008Infiniti G37.Troopers said Smyth proceeded to enter the intersection. Lawrence braked and turned his vehicle to the right side colliding with the Smyth's side rear wheel area of the Chrysler with the driver's side front of his Infiniti.After impact the Chrysler spun around and came to rest facing east on Guest Circle. The Infiniti left the road on the right side and came to rest off the road in a grassy area.Lawrence and his passenger, Jenna A. Adorno, 18, of Albrightsville, were not injured. A passenger with Smyth, Monica M. Friend, 19, of Pennsauken, N.J., sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Lehighton hospital by Lehighton ambulance. Two other passengers with Smyth were not injured.Assisting troopers were volunteers from the Penn Forest Fire Company fire police.Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Troopers cited Smyth for a stop sign violation.
