Homeless man cited for public drunkenness

Tamaqua Police cited a homeless man who apparently likes to drink himself into a stupor and then pass out on other people's property.

Patrolman Karl Harig responded to a trespassing complaint in the 200 block of West Broad Street at 3:47 p.m. on June 4 and found Dolores Ayala-Perez, 64, lying on a bench in front of a church. When Ayala-Perez finally responded to the officer's attempts to wake him, he exhibited multiple signs of intoxication and was unable to stand or walk without help. It was the fourth such incident on his record. He was transported back to the police station and placed in a cell block until he was sober enough to release, with citations for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
