Coaldale police are warning residents of a phone scam going on not only in the borough but for the area.
Police said a borough resident received on Friday, June 13, a call from a male who said he was a Schuylkill County assistant district attorney. The caller said a family member of the person called was arrested and needed bail money in order for him to get released.The caller said $8,000 in cash was needed and it should be deposited at a Western Union site by cash only. Anyone with information concerning this incident or who have received such a call is asked to contact police at 570-645-3060.Also, residents are warned not to respond to such requests and not answer any calls for odd numbers or blocked out calls.
