Monroe break-ins

State police at Lehighton are investigating a burglary and an attempted burglary at two Monroe County locations.

A home at 608 Steckel Road in Kunkletown was entered through a locked rear door and items were removed. The criminals then gained entry to a barn on the property through a side window where more items were removed. Troopers also noted entrance doors to two small buildings were damaged on the property.The incident occurred sometime between June 17 and 26. The property is owned by John K. Steckel Jr., 61, of Macungie.The attempted break-in occurred at the home of Ann Louise Begringer, 76, 4087 Greenwood Drive in Kunkletown. Entry was gained to a side porch area attached to the home. An attempt was made to gain entry to the home but it was unsuccessful. The incident occurred sometime between June 15 and July 15, troopers said.Anyone with information concerning either incident is asked to call troopers at 610-681-1850.
