A Schuylkill County driver fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle and crashed. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred at 7:20 p.m. on July 15 along Interstate 81 in Butler Township.
Troopers said Chad B. Mickatavage, 21, of Frackville was driving a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire northbound when he fell asleep. The car left the road and struck the guide rail along the east berm. After impact, the car continued north along the berm and struck two trees and then rolled over before striking a third tree, where it came to rest. Mickatavage was ejected when the vehicle rolled over.He was flown by medical helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was treated and released, troopers said.Mickatavage was cited for careless driving.
