Tamaqua police are investigating several reported thefts.
Someone removed nine watermelons, valued at $5.99 each, from the East End Market on East Broad Street. The theft happened sometime between closing time on July 10 and 9:23 a.m. on July 11.Also missing is approximately $3,000 worth of copper, which was removed from the Verizon Communications tower on Owl Creek Road. Someone removed 10, 5-foot by 6-foot long copper leads from the site. The theft was reported at 2:55 p.m. on July 7.A stack of patio chairs was reportedly stolen from the rear of Schick's Cafe on Mauch Chunk Street. A total of 17 beige chairs were stolen sometime over the Fourth of July weekend.Anyone with information about any of the thefts is asked to contact police at 570-668-5000.
