State police at Frackville reported on three crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roads, including two hit-and-runs.
A two-vehicle crash occurred along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township at 1:55 p.m. Thursday. Troopers said Kathy J. Rothermel, 47, of Shamokin, operating a 2013 Ford Explorer, was stopped in the left lane due to a backup of stopped vehicles, when Jacob C. Souva, 21, of Sayre, Bradford County, driving a 2009 Hyundai Sonata, was unable to stop and rammed the rear of the Explorer with his Sonata.No oe was injured in the crash. Souva was cited for causing the crash.The first hit-and-run crash was reported Friday along Schuylkill Avenue in West Mahanoy Township. An unknown vehicle struck a parked 2004 Dodge Stratus in the 100 block and then fled the scene. The incident occurred sometime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.The second hit-and-run occurred Sunday along Main Boulevard in East Union Township. A driver lost control of his vehicle while southbound and struck shrubs and a mailbox at 80 Main Blvd., then fled the scene. The incident was reported at 2:20 a.m.
