Lehighton tavern cited for violation

The Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has cited a Lehighton tavern for violating the state's liquor laws.

Police said Griff's Ale Haus and Grille, 328 S. Second St., was issued a citation on Aug. 18 for a violation that took place July 5.It is alleged the business sold, furnished and/or gave alcoholic beverages to a visibly intoxicated person in violation of Section 493(1) of the Pa. Liquor Code.The charge will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50-$1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge.
