A Tobyhanna man was arrested and charged with armed robbery and assault with a firearm, as well as numerous other charges.
Jonathan Correa, 22, was arraigned before District Judge Richard Claypoole and committed to Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.He was arrested by the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department as the result of a robbery which happened at 9:06 p.m. on July 31 at A Pocono Country Place.Police said on that evening, they responded to A Pocono Country Place for a robbery that happened outside a vehicle parked at a rear gate.Correa is accused of firing a handgun over the heads of the victims during the robbery and assault where cash, a wallet with credit cards, and the vehicle's keys were stolen.Police said Correa then fled into the A Pocono Country Place community.He was apprehended on Aug. 13 near Patterson, New Jersey, by the Totowa Police Department. When arrested, police said, he provided a fictitious name during an unrelated investigation there.Correa waived extradition back to Pennsylvania on Friday when arraignment occurred.Charges lodged against him are robbery, persons not to possess firearms, carrying a firearm without a license, possessing instruments of crime, terroristic threats, theft and receiving stolen property, and simple assault.
