Lehighton State Police have reported on a crash that occurred at 10:42 p.m. Wednesday on Route 209 near Hemlock Road in Franklin Township.

According to police, Andrew A. Carino, 27 of Lehighton, was traveling north on Route 209 in a 1992 Lincoln Town Car, when he swerved to miss an animal in the roadway. He traveled off the north side of the road, where he hit a utility pole with the front end of his vehicle. The pole was severely damaged as a result of the crash.Carino's vehicle came to final rest on the north side of the road, facing east in the southbound lane.The vehicle was towed from the scene by Schlier's Towing.Carino, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured and no charges were filed.Trooper Gary Fedor is the investigating officer. He was assisted by trooper Marvin Shair and Franklin Township Police.
