State police at Schuylkill Haven said a Schuylkill County driver was involved in a one-vehicle crash due to experiencing a medical issue.

Troopers said Cynthia J. Carson, 58, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 1997 Toyota Rav 4 southbound on Route 61 about 3:13 p.m. on Wednesday, when she had a medical issue. Carson lost consciousness with her vehicle going onto the shoulder and colliding into a utility pole.Carson regained consciousness after impact. She was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson Street, Pottsville, for treatment. Troopers said the Rav 4 sustained significant damage to the front end and had to be towed from the scene.
