An Ohio truck driver was cited by Tamaqua police on Sept. 27 after his rig struck a pole at the Five Points Intersection.
David A. Cobb, 45, of Kettering, was driving a Freightliner tractor and trailer north on Route 309 when he attempted to make the right turn onto Broad Street.The rear tires of the trailer struck a pole, causing them to blow up and the rig to become hung up on the curb. Hope's Towing was called to free the rig.Cobb was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device as truck traffic was being detoured due to a bridge reconstruction project.
