A Luzerne County driver was involved in a one-vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in Kline Township, Schuylkill County, on Monday.

State police at Frackville said Carlos A. Lithgow Ortega, 25, of West Hazleton, was driving a 2014 Ford Escape southbound at 5:50 a.m. and attempting to exit the interstate onto the Route 309 ramp.Troopers said he was traveling at a speed greater than would allow for a safe and proper exit, when his vehicle left the road and went onto the left berm, where his vehicle hit a dirt embankment. The Escape traveled along the embankment and then flipped onto its roof, coming to rest facing in a northeasterly direction.Lithgow Ortega was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Troopers cited him for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
