Two Nesquehoning women have been charged with drug counts.

Borough Police Chief Sean Smith said Michelle Canzoneri, 28, and Nicole Irene Canzoneri, 37, both of 101 W. Diaz Ave., have been charged with one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia. On Oct. 30 at 9:39 a.m. Smith and officer Timothy Wuttke went to the address above to serve a felony warrant on Nicole Canzoneri in connection with a theft incident involving Nicole Canzoneri's mother, the victim. Before going to the home, police received permission from the mother to search the home. When police arrived the two suspects were in the home. Both were advised that the officers had permission to search the home and asked each if they had anything in the home police should know about. At this point Michelle Canzoneri took Smith to her bedroom and opened a top dresser drawer, where a silver spoon with a burnt mark on the bottom was located. She admitted that it was an old spoon she used for preparing heroin for injection, but said she had not used it for a while and has been clean since March.Smith then checked Nicole Canzoneri's bedroom and found 10 empty white wax packets with smudged blue writing on them. These types of bags are commonly used for heroin. Nicole Canzoneri then confirmed they were heroin bags.As a result, the charges were filed against the two women.
