A pedestrian was struck and injured in a Schuylkill County incident.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Joseph A. Powanda Jr., 32, of Pottsville, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound on Pike Street, near the intersection with Market Street in Port Carbon, at 5:26 pm. on Nov. 13 when he struck Fred J. Ebert, 62, of Port Carbon, as he was walking in a crosswalk at the intersection.Troopers said Powanda never saw Ebert, who was wearing dark clothing and due to weather conditions at the time. The right front of the car struck Ebert. Upon impact the pedestrian fell onto the road. He was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville, for treatment of what troopers said were moderate injuries.Troopers said no charges will be filed in the incident.
