Driver facing DUI after crash

A Northumberland County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Marquis J. Wyman, 28, of Mount Carmel, was driving a 2004 Chrysler Crossfore along Route 183, in North Manheim Township, about 7:59 p.m. on Tuesday and negotiating a left hand curve while northbound.Wyman drove across the southbound lane after the turn and through a fence located along the shoulder. The vehicle came to rest in a yard of a residence facing north. Wyman and his passenger, Danielle C. Freitas, 27, of Mount Carmel, were not injured.Wyman showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. He admitted using heroin and a consent search of the vehicle resulted in the finding of a pill bottle containing a small baggie of heroin located in the glove compartment.Wyman was then taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test. Troopers said Wyman was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed. The DUI charge is pending test results, troopers added.
