Two jailed after trespassing

Two Tamaqua residents were sent to jail last Friday after they were caught trespassing on private property.

Acting on a tip, Tamaqua police went to the area of Burger King on Center Street at 8:30 p.m. to look for Jeremy Plasko, 37, formerly of 301 W Broad St. Plasko was wanted on an active arrest warrant.Plasko wasn't in the area, but officers decided to look around his former address. There they found fresh footprints in the snow and an unsecured door on the abandoned building. While searching the first floor officers found Plasko and Cory Lynn Matalavage, 33, who also used to live in the apartment building before it was declared unfit for human habitation. They were arraigned on charges of criminal trespass and two counts of defiant trespass, one due to the building being posted, the other because both had personally been warned about trespassing by the officer in August. Plasko was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, as a pat-down searched turned up three hypodermic needles and a glass pipe and spoon with burnt residue on them. Both were lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, in lieu of $25,000 straight cash bail.
