Two people were cited by Tamaqua police after a littering incident in the borough on Monday.
An officer on patrol at 1:34 a.m. saw a white Jeep Cherokee parked in the lot at Fegley's Mini Mart, 32 Center St. As the officer drove closer a passenger in the rear of the vehicle tossed a can out the window. The officer went to the Jeep and spoke with the occupants in the back seat, Jason Oshman, 27, and Amanda Johnson, 18, both of Mahanoy City.Oshman said the empty beer can accidentally fell out of his hand and couldn't explain why it "fell" at a curve instead of straight down. There was an open case of beer on the back floor of the vehicle and Oshman and Johnson both exhibited signs of intoxication. Johnson was given a preliminary breath test, which indicated a blood-alcohol content of 0.044.She was cited for underage drinking and he was cited for littering.
