Tamaqua Police are investigating the theft of cash from a donation container for the Tamaqua Animal Rescue group.

The container had been located at the Tamaqua Diner on Center Street, near the cash register.A diner employee reported that a female customer came in to pick up a takeout order around 10 a.m., when the cash was in the container. The employee left the register area to get the order, leaving the customer alone. At 11:30 a.m., someone noticed the cash was missing.Anyone with information may contact police at 570-668-5000.
