A one-vehicle crash on Mahanoy Avenue in Rush Township sent a Tamaqua man to the hospital Monday morning.

Tyler Gaugler, 20, was driving a 1984 Chevrolet east on Mahanoy Avenue in the area of Mintzer's Hill at 1:15 a.m. when he fell asleep at the wheel. The Chevrolet left the roadway and struck a telephone pole.Gaugler was taken to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus in Coaldale. Utility crews had to replace the pole.
