State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways this week.
A crash was reported at 6:20 a.m. on Wednesday along Route 125 near Tower Street in Porter Township. Troopers said Robert A. Madenford, 44, of Tower City, was driving a 1997 Subaru Legacy northbound and negotiating a right curve when he drove over patches of ice and lost control.The vehicle rotated 40 degrees clockwise and slid onto the northbound shoulder.The vehicle then struck a utility pole, where it came to rest. Madenford was not injured. The Subaru had to be towed.The second crash occurred on Monday at 5:30 a.m. along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said John C. James Jr., 51, of MaryD, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck southbound and got into the left lane to overtake a slower moving vehicle in the right lane. While in the left lane, James said he was cut off by another vehicle that merged into the left lane.James applied his brakes and lost control of the vehicle on the slush and snow-covered road. The truck rotated 90 degrees clockwise and struck the guide rail along the berm with the front end. After the initial impact the truck came to rest along the southbound shoulder.James was not injured. Although the truck sustained light damage, it had to be towed from the scene.Troopers cited James for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
