A child was slightly injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 9:22 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Route 61 and Darkwater Road in New Castle Township, Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville said Danny D. Doyne, 46, of Minersville, driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra, was stopped on Darkwater Road for a stop sign and then pulled out to turn left onto Route 61 and pulled into path of a 2005 Ford Explorer driven by Danielle Wychulis, 30, of Shenandoah.The Explorer collided with the left front of the Sentra causing it to spin clockwise. The Explorer careened off to the right shoulder after impact.A 2-year-old female with Doyne was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville, for treatment of a minor injury, troopers said. The two drivers were not injured.Troopers said Doyne was cited for a stop sign violation and for an expired inspection sticker.Troopers also reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 3:50 p.m. Friday along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Jessica L. Batista, 30, of Hazleton, was driving a 2004 Honda Civic southbound in the left lane when she said another vehicle traveling in the right lane cut her off.She swerved to avoid the other vehicle and lost control of her Civic. The car went onto the berm and entered the median where it struck an embankment.Batista and her passenger, Josadac Rodriguez, 38, also of Hazleton, were not injured.
