A Monroe County man was jailed on Feb. 5 after being arrested for forgery and fraud counts.
Pocono Mountain Regional police said on Nov. 13, 2014, James Halstead was at the Uni-Mart Exxon along Route 940 in Pocono Summit, where he lost his credit card.Branden Mathis, 23, of Easton, then employed at the store, used the credit card at the Uni-Mart to purchase gas and cigarettes and then attempted to use it at the Kmart in East Stroudsburg to purchase $1,615 worth of merchandise.Mathis was charged with two counts of access device fraud, and one count each of forgery, theft, theft of property, and possessing instruments of crime. He was placed in the county prison, police said.
