A Jim Thorpe woman has been charged after she filed a false police report at her former residence in Nesquehoning.
According to Nesquehoning police, Samantha Weaver, 24, of 26 Club Drive, contacted borough police at 6:48 p.m. Jan. 13 to file a report that someone had come into her first-floor apartment, which at the time was 333 W. Catawissa St., and stole money.Weaver said she found dirty footprints in her apartment coming from a window.She also said money was taken from her boyfriend's vehicle. Combined, Weaver said several hundred dollars, as well as prescription medication, was taken.Patrolman Carl Breiner, who responded to the report, said Weaver implicated a co-worker as a possible suspect.The person in question was interviewed and submitted his shoes for examination.Weaver also submitted a four-page written statement reporting the alleged incident.The evidence cleared the co-worker, and officers found that the footprints matched Weaver's.When confronted with the information, Weaver denied any wrongdoing multiple times before confessing to taking the money herself, making the footprints and misleading police.She has been charged with falsifying a written statement to law enforcement authorities, falsely incriminating another person to law enforcement authorities, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
