A traffic stop on Claremont Avenue in Hometown on Feb. 22 has resulted in charges against James Shafer, 28, of Jim Thorpe.
Rush Township Police stopped the vehicle Schafer was driving at 2:13 a.m. The officer detected the odor of alcohol and other signs of inebriation, then transported the driver to Schuylkill Medical Center South in Pottsville for blood tests.The tests came back positive for alcohol, showing a blood-alcohol level of 0.17 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.The charges include driving under the influence of alcohol and several traffic violations.
