A Tamaqua man was charged following a traffic stop in the borough on Feb. 20.
An officer was on patrol at 7 p.m., traveling south on Railroad Street, when he saw the driver of a red Volkswagen, which was also southbound, stop at the light at the Five Points. The officer saw that the registration light on the vehicle was burned out. He also saw the driver, later identified as Zachary Rossi, 30, of 303 Washington St., Tamaqua, jump out of the car, then get back inside.The officer stopped the Volkswagen and spoke with Rossi, who admitted that his driver's license was suspended.During a consent search of the vehicle, the officer found a small tubular pipe with burnt marijuana residue.Rossi was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.
