A Tamaqua woman faces charges after a July 24 accident in Tamaqua.
Police were dispatched to 233 Lombard St. at 10:42 a.m. for a two-vehicle crash. They found a gold Chevrolet Malibu, with passenger side and hood damage, in the middle of the street. The driver was sitting on the sidewalk and was identified as Dianne L. Ontiveros, 62, of 509 Lombard St.Ontiveros told the officer she was driving north on Lombard Street when she was blinded by the sun, causing her to hit a parked 2008 Toyota owned by Keith Schlosser, of 249 W. Rowe St., Tamaqua.Officers noted the sun was actually behind the Malibu. As Ontiveros stood up to retrieve documents from her car, she stumbled several times and almost fell. She was asked to complete field sobriety tests, but declined because she was "unable to walk." She did consent to blood testing, initially wanting the officer to draw the blood right there in the street. She was transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center, Pottsville, for the test.Charges are pending the results of those tests.
