Three traffic stops along Interstate 80 has led to drug charges against three people.
State police at Fern Ridge said a vehicle was stopped at 6:58 p.m. July 27 while westbound in East Side Borough, Carbon County, for a traffic violation.At the stop there were indicators of criminal activity and a consent search was made of the vehicle.Found were 118 packets of synthetic marijuana. A passenger in the vehicle, William Anderson, 40, of Shamokin, admitted that the items were his.As a result he was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and related drug offenses.A traffic stop was made westbound at 12:55 a.m. July 30 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County, for a traffic violation.During the stop both the driver and passenger admitted having marijuana inside the vehicle.Amarilis Bencosme, 23, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, claimed full responsibility for the drugs found.Bencosme faces charges of possession of marijuana and related offenses.Troopers did not indicate if Bencosme was the driver or passenger.At 3:36 a.m. July 30 a traffic stop was made in Tunkhannock Township. At the stop troopers found marijuana in the vehicle following a consent search. A glass jar containing about 1 ounce of marijuana was found.As a result Hamilton Heredia, 26, of Bronx, New York, faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and related offenses.
