A Carbon County driver is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a vehicle stop by Mahoning Township police.
Police said on July 13, at 7 p.m. a Honda Civic was stopped for passing in a no passing area on Route 443. The driver, Stephen Trotman, 22, of Lehighton was found under the influence of controlled substances.Police said a blood test showed the presence of amphetamine, methamphetamine, clonazepam, 7-amino clonazepam, alprazolam, and morphine. Trotman has been charged with three counts of DUI and one count each of no passing zones and careless driving.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 9.
