Lansford man charged in burglary incident

A Lansford man faces burglary and other charges for his role in an incident at the Tractor Supply Co. in Lehighton.

Mahoning Township Police said that on Sept. 20, at 12:15 a.m. police were dispatched to a burglary alarm at Tractor Supply.Police found a vehicle by the fenced storage lot. The vehicle had the keys in the ignition, and the driver window was down. They found three post hole drill bits leaning against the fence.Lehighton Police, along with Franklin Township Police, responded to assist. A short time later, Franklin Police located a man near 84 Lumber.The man, Joel T. Vermillion, 25, of Lansford, was identified as the vehicle owner.As a result of the investigation, Vermillion has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and criminal attempt, burglary.Vermillion was arraigned on Oct. 23 by Magistrate Casimir Kosciolek in Lansford, and he was released on $30,000 unsecured bail.A preliminary hearing for Vermillion is scheduled for Dec. 2.
