Police investigate crashes in Chestnuthill Township
State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers recently.
A two-vehicle crash occurred at 12:29 p.m. March 29 along Route 115, just south of Sugar Hollow Road in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a 2012 Nissan Versa operated by Alexsander N. Kish, 22, of Saylorsburg, crossed the center line and collided into a 2014 Honda CRV driven by Leah A. Pizzolo, 54, of Kunkletown. Both drivers were injured and taken to Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.Kish was cited for careless driving.A two-vehicle crash was reported at 11:48 a.m. on April 2 along Route 209 at the intersection with Frable Road in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Margarita Carrion Perez, 54, of Effort, was stopped to make a left turn into a car dealer lot when her 2015 Nissan Rogue was struck in the rear by a 2010 Mercedes-Benz E350 driven by Prabhjot Sharma, 25, of Blakeslee. Carrion Perez was injured and taken to PMC by West End ambulance.Troopers cited Sharma for following too closely.A two-vehicle crash occurred at 1:57 p.m. on April 2 at the intersection of Route 209 and Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Christina S. Gentis, 54, of Bethlehem, was southbound on 309 and approaching the intersection when a 2001 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Jeffery C. Kurtz, 53, of Kunkletown, rear-ended her 2016 Jeep Patriot. After impact Kurtz fled the scene through the parking lot of the West End Plaza. He was later found at his residence, troopers said.Gentis and two passengers, Evangelos S. Gentis, 30, of Bethlehem, and Samantha H. Gillen, 31, of West Chester, and Kurtz, were all not injured. Troopers cited Kurtz for the crash.Another two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:20 a.m. on April 4 on Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Harold L. Belden, 62, of Blakeslee, was southbound while Gregory Rawls, 39, of Effort, was northbound. Troopers said Belden crossed the center line in an attempt to pass another vehicle. As he was in that lane his 1999 Jeep collided head-on with Rawls' 2001 Nissan.The police report indicates both drivers were injured but did not receive any medical attention.
