Man, woman charged with harassment in Tamaqua

Tamaqua Police cited Kyle Michael Hoppes, 27, whose last known address is 161 Mill Drive, Tamaqua, after an incident on April 20.

Police were contacted by a Bowe Street resident who said Hoppes was driving a silver Saturn when he stopped in front of the victim's home, pointed it out to a female passenger, and held up a bundle and laughed at the victim. The car came back about 15 minutes later and Hoppes did the same thing.After Hoppes drove away, the victim could still hear the car, so he began walking west on South Street.He found the vehicle parked in the 100 block of South Street, in a private lot. Hoppes and his passenger, identified as Carina Leach, 19, of 1 Kaska St., Middleport, were still inside the car.The victim was standing near the Saturn's front headlight when Hoppes hit the gas pedal, left the lot and headed west. The victim narrowly escaped being struck by the car, jumping out of the way just as the car accelerated.Almost an hour later, at 7:28 p.m., as the victim was speaking on the phone to police, Leach returned to the area, took photos of the victim's house and threatened that "E is coming to take care of you."She was cited for harassment.Hoppes was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.
