The Franklin Township Girls Softball Old Timers Game committee, which holds a fundraising softball game with food sales and a Chinese auction every year to help local causes in the community, donated a $1,200 check to the Lehighton American Legion Post 314 to help with various programs.
The legion's children and youth essay contest, football and wrestling banquets, State Police Youth week, Keystone Boys State, fourth-grade essay/coloring contest, and police/firefighter of the year, have enriched the community through the years.The game is played by former members of the Franklin Township Softball League who have outgrown the participation age. Baskets and food are donated by the players and the parents in a community effort.
