Standing water on a Schuylkill County roadway was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:53 p.m. on Sunday along Route 61 in North Manheim Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Howard M. Pollman, 71, of Port Carbon, was driving a 1998 Subaru Legacy southbound in the passing lane when he attempted to pass another vehicle.As he passed, his vehicle struck a large amount of standing water on the road caused from storms that were passing through the area at the time.Pollman lost control of his vehicle which struck a concrete jersey barrier with the left front and then the left back end of the vehicle.After impact Pollman was able to regain control of the vehicle and traveled another 150 feet before coming to final rest in the parking lot of the Adult Shop 61.Pollman was not injured.Troopers cited him for the crash.
