Tamaqua police are investigating an assault on a Schuylkill Haven man, reported to the department at 9:13 p.m. on July 31.

The victim said he was on South Railroad Street when he was attacked by another man wielding a hammer. The suspect was described as a tall man who was walking with another man, a woman wearing a blue and white striped shirt and a brown and white dog.The victim was treated by EMS personnel but refused to go to the hospital.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact police at 570-668-5000.
