Minersville man charged in Tamaqua

A Minersville man "nodded off" while driving in Tamaqua on Sept. 10, damaging his own vehicle and two parked cars.

Daniel L. Stoudt, 40, was driving on Washington Street at 12:58 a.m. when he struck the sides of two vehicles. As officers were taking statements, they saw a syringe on the driver's side floor of Stoudt's vehicle. They asked Stoudt for permission to search a black backpack that he had hanging from his side.The bag contained 41 empty blue wax paper packets, a bag of syringes, a clear bag with a crystal like residue, a scale, a spoon and a small paddle tool. Stoudt was given, and failed field sobriety tests before being transported to a Pottsville Hospital for blood tests. He refused to have his blood drawn.He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
