A Vermont woman didn't have a warm welcome to Pennsylvania on Aug. 31 after she ran out of gas.
The 19-year-old was able to coast the last few feet into the Brown Bag station on Route 54 in Ryan Township, but her car wasn't close enough to the pump when it came to a stop. She thought she was in luck when a good Samaritan inside the store offered to help her push her vehicle closer to the pumps. After filling the tank, she left, only to find her iPhone and $100 in cash were missing from the center console. She went back to the station, but her helper was gone. After an investigation, Ryan Township Police identified the thief as Joseph Michaels, 25, of Barnesville. He has been charged with theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
