Schuylkill County traffic incidents

State police release the following Schuylkill County traffic incidents:

• A driver was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 6:50 p.m. on Monday along Main Street in Gilberton.State police at Frackville said Steven D. Middleton, 67, of Pottsville, was driving a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer westbound when he fell asleep. The vehicle crossed over the double yellow line into the eastbound lane and then off onto the south berm where it struck a tree, severing it at the roots.The vehicle continued off the road until it came to rest about 30 feet from the road. Middleton was not injured, but the Mercury had to be towed. Troopers cited Middleton for careless driving.• A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following an incident on Aug. 30.State police at Schuylkill Haven said Douglas Gregory Miller, 55, of Auburn, was stopped along Brick Hill Road, in West Brunswick Township, at 8:54 p.m. for a vehicle violation. As a result of the stop he was charged with DUI, troopers said.• A Schuylkill County driver was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 5:31 a.m. on Tuesday along Route 61 in Blythe Township.State police at Frackville said Charles E. Brode, 46, of Pottsville, was driving a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe northbound in the left lane when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road. The vehicle went onto the east berm and struck the guide rail, then came to rest in a wooded area. The vehicle sustained disabling damages to the front end and was towed.Brode, who was not injured, was cited for the crash.
