Man charged with break-in, threats

A Tamaqua man has been charged with breaking in to the Tamaqua Salvation Army building, 105 W. Broad St., Tamaqua.

David John Brode, 22, of Pine Street, Tamaqua, entered the building at 8 p.m. on Oct. 8. Security cameras then recorded him removing tiles from the drop ceiling in the lobby. He then made his way to the office, where he removed $32 in bills and change.He was charged for burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and defiant trespass.During the investigation, officers also learned that Brode made threats against his former girlfriend and her family, saying he was going to set a fire and kill them. Those threats were made through Facebook messages on Oct. 18.He also faces charges of making terroristic threats and harassment.
