Schuylkill crashes
State police at Frackville reported investigating several crashes along Schuylkill County roads.
• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 4:31 a.m. Friday in the area of Morea Road and Willow Street in West Mahanoy Township.Troopers said Derek Edward Balthaser, 28 of Frackville, was eastbound on Morea Road when he lost control negotiating a right-hand curve. The 2008 Ford Edge went on to the north berm and struck a stone wall on cemetery property. He was not injured.The vehicle had to be towed. He was cited for the crash.• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:50 a.m. Friday along the off ramp of Interstate 81 to Route 309 in Kline Township.Troopers said John Zaginaylo, 30, of Berwick, was driving a 2013 Ford F150 pickup truck and rounding a right curve when the truck went onto the berm and struck a tree. The impact caused the truck to roll onto its passengers side.Zaginaylo was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton Campus, for treatment of minor injuries.• A crash occurred at 1:10 a.m. Saturday along I-81, also in Kline Township.Troopers said Stephen J. Morris III, 25, of Dunmore, was southbound driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the left lane and negotiating a slight curve. Morris veered to the left, went onto the berm and traveled along the berm for about 1,000 feet before striking and knocking down a road sign. The Jeep then re-entered the road, crossed both southbound lanes, and came to rest along the right shoulder.At this point Morris exited the vehicle and began wandering along the right shoulder and southbound lane before hopping over the guide rail and collapsing.He was taken by McAdoo ambulance to LVH, Hazleton Campus, and later transferred by helicopter to the LVH, Cedar Crest. The vehicle was towed from the scene.Troopers cited Morris for the crash.
