A Tamaqua woman called the Schuylkill County Communications Center on Jan. 2, telling dispatchers she was being held in an apartment against her will by a John Kamant, 56. She was unsure of where she was being held, but thought it could be on Bowe or Mahanoy Street.
Officers went to Kamant's home, 120 Mahanoy St., and could hear a woman yelling "Let me go."As the door opened, a woman ran out, followed closely by Kamant, who stopped when he saw police, then tried to get away.He was taken to the ground and continued to resist the officers until he was Tased.A records check found outstanding warrants for his arrest and he was transported to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville.He was also charged with unlawful restraint, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
