A snow-covered Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County was the scene of two crashes on Saturday.
The first crash occurred at 12:33 p.m. State police at Frackville said Warren L. Green, 65, of New Orleans,driving a 2007 GMC Yukon was traveling too fast for conditions when his vehicle began to swerve. Green attempted to gain control as the Yukon slid in a counterclockwise direction for 90 degrees and came to rest partially in the left passing lane.Troopers said Brady C. Darosh, 22, of Pottsville, driving a 2016 Subaru Impreza, was traveling in the left lane at the time, and when Green's vehicle spun out he was unable to take evasive action to avoid a collision. The right front passenger side of the Impreza hit the left front driver's side of the Yukon.After impact the Yukon spun clockwise 180 degrees and came to rest facing east in the left lane. After impact, the Impreza spun clockwise and traveled off the west berm and came to rest against an embankment facing south.A passenger with Green, Michelle Brazee, 53, of New Orleans, and a passenger with Darosh, Casondra Doster, 22, of Pottsville, sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Geisinger Medical Center - Jackson Street, Pottsville.Troopers cited Green for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.The second crash was reported at 12:51 p.m. in Cass Township. Troopers said Samantha J. Houser, 28, of Dalton, Lackawanna County, was driving a 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara southbound in the right lane when a truck tractor, traveling in the left lane, suddenly entered the right lane. Houser attempted to avoid a collision and traveled onto the west shoulder and into a snow-covered cloverleaf area where the vehicle came to rest.Houser and her passenger, Roberta Stoss, 31, of Avoca, were not injured.
