A hit-and-run driver in Schuylkill County fled the scene of an crash while his vehicle burned. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred at 6:09 a.m. on Feb. 23 in a wooded area off Hillside Road and next to St. Joseph's Cemetery, in North Manheim Township.

According to troopers, a vehicle was driven southbound in a wooded area next to the cemetery. The driver was on a dirt road which was blocked by a fence. He drove the vehicle along the road striking several large rocks when the vehicle got hung up on some rocks with damage to the undercarriage and the gas tank.The driver attempted to drive forward to free the vehicle but was unsuccessful.He then got out of the vehicle and ran through nearby woods as the vehicle caught fire and was fully engulfed by the flames and destroyed.
